Do you also ask yourself how Simon Geschke keeps his beard looking so good? Or are you another cyclist who shaves his legs, but not his face? Good for you! We have just the product you need.
Nowadays, whenever Team Sunweb rider Simon Geschke is interviewed he gets at least one question about his beard. It’s also a really easy way of recognising him in the mass of riders in the professional peloton — even his parents recognise him this way when they watch bike racing on TV. But the story behind Geschke’s Beard Balm, ironically enough, was not an initiative started by the rider.
Surprising collaboration
Charlotte Meersschaut is a bike racing fan and pharmacist from Aaigem in Belgium. Her husband has a beard, and he came up with the idea of developing a product that prevented his beard making him look like he was “too lazy to shave”. Charlotte applied her background as a pharmacist to experiment on her husband, and other friends of the bearded persuasion, to create balms with various different textures and aromas.
Charlotte presented a pot of her homemade balm to Geschke, after the finish of the Eneco Tour in Gerardsbergen 2015, as a gift to celebrate his Tour de France stage victory of that year. Little did they know that this would be the beginning of a collaboration that to this day combines Charlotte’s twin passions of cycling and pharmacy.
100% natural
The balm itself is 100% natural and hypoallergenic. Its main ingredients are bees’ wax, coconut butter, almond oil and a secret combination of oils with antibacterial properties. The balm keeps your beard neat and tidy for between 12 and 24 hours. One pot, which costs around €25, will last a Tour de France rider for up to 3,500 kilometres, meaning that one pot is all you need — how handy is that?
